Average Salary of a Limousine Driver

The national average salary for a limousine driver is around $7.81 to $19.57 per hour with hourly tips ranging all the way from $1.02 to $9.79. The average bonus amount for limousine drivers is around $4,000. The average yearly salary for limousine drivers is $35,500.

Personally, I make about 55,000 each year from driving my limousine each year. Sometimes I only get tipped $2 per hour while other times it is much more. I definitely earn more than the average limousine driver, but it does vary a bit year to year.

I have a few other friends who are limousine drivers in the same city as me, and most of them only make around $35,000 to $38,000 per year. I certainly credit my extra earnings to my technical driving skills as well as sociability with my passengers. The amount that I’ve made as a limo driver has steadily increased over the years as my skills improved.

While it is true that a limo driver’s yearly earnings is partially a reflection of the area they work in, it also has to do with how skilled of a driver they are. There are a lot of subtleties to this type of work that even a lot of experienced drivers don’t seem to understand or care about.

When I started out as a limo driver when I was 20 years old, I was probably only making about $30,000 each year. This number quickly started shooting up as I became more experienced and familiarized myself with all of those small but important things that limo drivers need to focus on for the benefit of their passengers.

Ten percent of all limo drivers make around $24,000 each year, while 25% make about $35,000. Almost 50% of all limousine drivers made $43,000 on a yearly basis. I feel as though that it’s likely that I will continue to earn more over time, even if it is only by a small amount.

Some limousine drivers make as much as $63,000 per year, though it is usually in areas like New York City or Los Angeles. I am sure that if I lived in a bigger city I would probably make more, but I am very happy with where I am right now in terms of my salary, tips and bonuses. My hourly rate as a limo driver has definitely increased over time, and it is going to keep going up so long as I stay in this line of work.

I find that a lot of people who start driving a limousine for a living are a bit discouraged by how much money they make when first starting out, but I keep telling them that it will get better the longer they stay in the game. I made about 35% more than the average limo driver in the U.S., which I am quite happy about. This line of work can actually be quite lucrative, depending on how committed to it you are and where you are working.

History of Limousines

There have been limousines in some form since the 1700s. While the limousine as we know it has only been around for several decades, there have been chauffeured vehicles taking people to know where they needed to go for much longer than that.

The very first automobile limousine was developed in 1902, and it was designed so that the driver would be outside under a covered compartment. The origin of the word “limousine” comes from the covered compartment that somewhat looked like the cloak hook worn by residents of Limoges.

The first casual stretch limousine came into creation in Arkansas in 1928. These vehicles were colloquially known as “big band buses” due to the fact that they were often used to transport famous big band leaders along with their orchestras.

Limousines started to really become a popular mode of transportation in the 1930s, when they started being used as a way to transport guests of hotels from the airport to the hotel. The movie industry began using these vehicles as soon as they started to become popular. Movie studios would use limousines to transport film crew and stage personnel around the sets of films. These vehicles became a common accessory for actors and actresses of the time.

It wasn’t long before the six-door limousine was invented, and they were typically used for funerals at first. As limousines gained more and more popularity with the public, they started being used by everyone from movie stars to the President of the United States to wherever they needed to go.

The primary reasons that limousines became so popular so quickly is because they offered a certain comfort, style and luxury that no other vehicles did at the time. Today, limousines are frequently used to transport the rich and famous, and there are many different models available. New technologies are being used with these vehicles, adding to the comfort and luxury that they are already known for. These days people hire limousines for a number of reasons, including going to and from clubs, for weddings, wine tours and parties.

My life as a limousine driver

Hi, my name is Mike Burns and I am a 45 year old professional limousine driver. I have been driving limos since I was 20 years old, and in that time I have saw and experienced so many things. I have driven thousands of people to their destinations in a variety of limousines, and it’s definitely something I love and look forward to doing each day of my life. I honestly couldn’t see myself doing anything else, and the pay isn’t that bad either!

A lot of the people that I drive in my limousine are people who are going out on the town or to a wedding or even high school prom, but I have seen my fair share of celebrities as well. I have to say that a vast majority of the people that come into my limousine are very friendly and pleasant, but any limo driver that’s been around the block knows that it’s not everyone is like that.

I have found that a lot of limousine drivers have difficulty when it comes to mental focus, especially after a long shift, but not me. At first I tried a lot of different things to keep myself alert after driving for hours at a time, but I ultimately found that vitamins were the most helpful. The most effective methods for me when it comes to mental focus are completely natural. I take a multivitamin each day as well as a few other specific vitamins to help me to stay on top of my game.

Typically I work 8-12 hour shifts, but it does depend on the day. Sometimes I will only work a regular eight hours, but other days it seems like I work for two days straight. While I definitely drink my fair share of caffeine, I find that the natural vitamin and mineral supplements I take are enough to get me through.

I don’t have any problems when it comes to getting stead work as a limousine driver, and that is something I am very grateful for. It actually takes quite a bit of skill to do this job well, which is something that doesn’t really occur to most people. I got my CDL (chauffer’s driver license) when I was 20 years old, and I haven’t looked back since. While I can admit that I did make some silly mistakes when I was just starting off, I can honestly say that I’ve become very good at what I do.

The fact is that being a limousine driver is something that I really enjoy, partially because it affords me the opportunity to meet new people on a daily basis. While a lot of the people who I take to and from their destinations aren’t especially talkative, there are still those who strike up a conversation with me. I really enjoy talking to different kinds of people and hearing their stories. I am a naturally social person, so I feel that I am particularly well-suited to this job. Given my age and my career choice it is tough to hold a steady relationship. I recently went on a date with a women and my worst fear of not being able to “get hard” became a frightening reality. Of course I didn’t end up in that situation given the first date but as I have stated earlier I tend to only gravitate towards natural supplements and steer clear of pharmaceuticals if possible. I have found a website called Male Strength Review in which I collect most of my research from, the owner is a personal trainer and fitness enthusiast so I trust his honest reviews. I recently ordered my first batch of extenze, which is a male enhancement supplement after reading a very detailed review of extenze on Tom Curren’s website. If you are around my age and are floating in the same boat as I am I strongly suggest giving this product a shot.

Driving a limousine day in and day out can get a little tedious sometimes, but there is almost always excitement awaiting me when I get into the driver’s seat. Most people don’t especially like having to drive, which is part of the reason why they hire me. I like providing people with the level of comfort, style and luxury they want when they are going to a wedding, a big night club or some other special place or event. There is really nothing else in this world that I would rather do than drive my limo.

Types of Licensing necessary to become a limousine driver

These training courses can prepare you for driving a limousine, and you will earn a special endorsement on your driver’s license that is required for professional driving jobs. Before you can officially get your CDL, you will need to take and pass a written exam. After you have passed this exam as well as a criminal background check and drug testing, you can start applying for a job with a local limousine company.
